About us
We recently moved to the Victorian alpine area at the base of Mt Buller / Marnong, Taungurung country. Home is now a lime-plastered strawbale house, on a piece of land with an old bakery building and a wood-fired oven, a large vegetable garden, orchard, olive grove and 100 acres of protected hilly bushland. We are so happy to be the custodians of this wonderful place, with all manner of birds, kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, and snakes for company, as well as the invasive rabbits, deer, feral dogs and foxes.

When we purchased the property, the vegetable patch and orchard had been neglected for 10+ years, the house needed some serious work and we needed to turn the old bakery into something useful. The trees around the cleared area of the site needed uplifting and years of leaf and bark litter needed collecting to reduce the risk of fires. The bushland needs invasive weeds removed.

After a lot of hard work, the vegetable patch and orchard are on their way back to being productive, the olive grove has been reduced and fenced off from hungry deer, the house and bakery have been renovated and the place is humming with life.

We aim to grow food for ourselves to eat, for sale locally and for donation to local food banks, with all sorts of vegetables, fruits, herbs and flowers going in the ground. The orchard has a wide range of stone fruit and citrus, and there are large blueberry and currant patches.

The soil in the vegetable patch and orchard has been treated to a feed of microbes, organic matter and supplements to bring it back to health, and the surrounding cleared land will also be fed and planted with vegetation that will help it to regenerate and flourish.
We are
Jacqueline Bosscher
Head gardener
Always a keen gardener, Jacqueline was growing food in her Sydney garden until the desire to upscale led to a tree-change. Moving to Taungurung country in 2023, she now has around 400m2 of veggie patch, a 50 tree orchard, a 60 tree olive grove and a steep learning curve!
She has also launched a new design studio - boue - which is focussed on ceramics, lighting and furniture design, powered by solar and fed by rainwater.
Jacqueline worked across arts and design disciplines in Sydney for over 25 years, ultimately running her own interior design practice focused on sustainability for which she won several awards.
